Developing a Core Area of Focus

We call students' most passionate area of study or focus their "spike" -- the activities and narrative they create around this give their application a WOW factor.

A spike is what sets our students apart from all other applicants, supplementing a well-rounded persona with eye-catching achievements and show of dedication and initiative. With us, students will put in consistent effort, focus, discipline, and passion to grow their own spikes. Ideally, this spike is what makes makes colleges think you're going to accomplish great things at their institution and beyond. We help students cultivate any spike imaginable that they're passionate about. For aspiring writers, it could be publishing a journal or book, or submitting to esteemed publications or writing competitions. For aspiring programmers, this could mean impactful coding projects or participation in renowned olympiads and hackathons.

Demonstrate Leadership Through Your Activities:

Leadership comes in many forms -- we've worked with captains of nationally-ranked varsity sports teams, NGO project leaders, and the founders of various student organizations and academic groups.

Our counselors will help you plan your own course of leadership, whether in or outside of school.  For example, for students passionate about international relations and Model UN, we'll guide them on initializing new ideas and opportunities for their high school clubs as well as community outreach opportunities such as conferences. Each opportunity we guide students to create or take will have a profound impact on their college resume as well as a glowing personal statement filled with these achievements and experiences. 

Seeking Research or Entrepreneurial Opportunities

To help students further delve into something their passionate about, our counselors will work closely with them to explore, apply, and partake in exciting professional opportunities to showcase their world-class experiences to college admissions officers. For more STEM-oriented students, this might include training and preparation for university research labs, summer programs, or competitive internships. Students with an exciting personal project or business idea would benefit so much from our guidance and strategy to increase exposure, awareness, and impact. For most students, we start from scratch, brainstorming opportunities while providing top-notch resources and connections to help them succeed and build a professional resume colleges love to see.

Build Relationships with Teachers and Professionals

One of the biggest misconceptions of the college admissions process is that it's solely a one-person undertaking. False! Your letters of recommendations and many supplemental materials come straight from teachers, professors, and other important people you've worked with on something you're passionate about, not to mention the experience you'll write about in your essays. We're extremely well-versed in the planning, outreach, and networking process and will work closely with each student to build some of their most important links early-on, from STEM summer programs or participation in activism movements.
